"CARETTA, CARETTA" (Latin for Loggerhead Turtle)
This Sculpture was created from a life sized fiberglass non descript Loggerhead Turtle design. 50 Naples Artists were chosen to create the art pieces. They were then auctioned and placed around the city. Caretta Caretta resides at the Entrance to the Conservancy of Naples
Caretta, Caretta... a teaching tool
Caretta, Caretta was created to bring about greater awareness of the life and plight of this grand turtle. Her scales were carved in plaster, her story in the natural world was painted on her back.
Her struggle in the world of humans
On Caretta, Caretta's chest is the story of her struggle to survive the damages and destruction by humans that endanger her species.
